2014 Tails on the Trail Dog Walk
Welcome to CANINES CARE: a team for therapy dogs, other companion animals and their handlers with particular focus on those who serve people in hospice care.
Each day, caring dogs provide happiness, comfort and service to many people. We have seen the joy brought to a child by the loving affection of a puppy. We know that dogs console us when we’re sad and comfort us when we’re ill. As dog owners and handlers who visit those in hospice, hospitals, nursing homes or other health care facilities, we hope to “unleash” the power of our companion and therapy dogs to brighten the day of someone suffering from disease, illness or loneliness. We know the power of dogs to improve human life goes far beyond cheering someone up, but even that is awesome. And dogs do so much more to help those in need.
The purpose of this team is to recognize and support all the work that WHS does, including companion and therapy dog training. But therapy and other companion dog training is only one of the many ways that WHS helps improve the quality of life for people and animals in Milwaukee, Ozaukee and Racine Counties. Last year, for example, WHS found homes for more than 10,000 animals! WHS provides a range of critical services, all without government funding.
You can help WHS save homeless animals, train future therapy and companion dogs and do so very much more by: (1) sponsoring the Canines Care team’s walk by clicking on my name below which brings you to my personal fundraising page and then clicking on "Support David" and/or (2) registering to join the Team for its walk on May 18 by clicking on "Join Team" below.
Thank you in advance for your generosity. We hope to see you on May 18th !
