2014 Tails on the Trail Dog Walk
The Fast & the Furriest
Thank you for visiting our page for The Fast & the Furriest!
Many of us grew up dreaming about spending our days with puppies and kittens, so to be able to call what we do each and every day at the Wisconsin Humane Society "work" is truly incredible. Working at a shelter, though, also means that we see first-hand what your generous donations can accomplish, and, how much work there still is to do to help the abused, neglected and abandoned animals who have no where else to turn.
In 2013, 10,053 animals found new families through the Wisconsin Humane Society. 10,053. We have only exceeded this number one other time in our entire 135 year history, and we could only accomplish this with your help! Because WHS receives no general government funding, it is also your donations that enable some pretty incredible programs to exist for the community, including:
- Our Safe Haven program offers temporary shelter for animals of domestic violence victims, allowing them to leave a dangerous situation without losing their animals.
- Our PAL program helps underprivileged youth learn the importance of responsibility, teamwork and caring for others by working directly with a dog, helping care for baby ducklings in our wildlife nursery and socializing cats.
- Discounted spay and neuter surgery for animals in low-income families
- Our Wildlife Rehabilitation Center cares for over 5,000 wild animals every year and is the largest wildlife center in the state.
Pretty cool, isn't it? And those are just a few of the wonderful things the Wisconsin Humane Society does!
Will you join us on May 18th at Greenfield Park with your friends, family, co-workers, and of course, all of your furry canines!
Even if you can't make it to the walk, your donation would be greatly appreciated. You can click on any of our team members pages to make a donation to support animals in need right here in our community.
