Hello and welcome to my Tails On The Trail fundraising page!  I'm the executive director of the Wisconsin Humane Society, and this is our first walk, so as you can imagine, it means a lot to me that you're here.  So much that I'm prepared to do something pretty drastic if this team raises $5,000 or more.  (Read to the end to hear what it is!)

Will you join our Tailblazers team or donate to support us?  It is such a privilege for me to be part of the Wisconsin Humane Society and the lifesaving work it has pioneered for so many years.  When you support the Wisconsin Humane Society, you support:

  • Adoptions for homeless animals -- almost 10,000 animals in 2012!
  • Veterinary care and behavior help for thousands of homeless animals every year.
  • Spay/neuter surgery for animals from families with low income, so there won't be as many homeless animals in the future.
  • Vaccine clinics, so animals in our communities stay healthy.
  • Fun education programs teaching compassion, kindness, and respect to thousands of kids every year.
  • The biggest wildlife rehabilitation hospital in our area, helping more than 5,000 orphaned and injured wild animals every year!
  • And lots more.  The Wisconsin Humane Society isn't a government organization and is not connected to any "national" humane society (did you know they are all separate?), so we rely entirely on support from generous people. 

Every person who joins our team will receive a special Tailblazers collector button in addition to all the fun loot you get for joining the walk.  When you join, you get a page like this to start raising support from your friends -- even if you join as a "virtual walker" and aren't able to physically join us!  When you donate but don't join, you get our deepest gratitude (and a tax deduction). 

Here's how much I want this to succeed.  I've had brown hair all my life -- but if the Tailblazers team raises $5,000 or more, I will show up for the walk as a blonde, and stay blonde for at least a month afterward.  Yikes -- I'm nervous already!
