May 2013: Poncho has been adopted!

4.22 Update: Poncho has fully recovered! He will be going up for adoption early this week. Thank you so much to everyone who so generously donated on behalf of this special little pup. We have raised the funds necessary to cover the cost of his care, and any additional contributions have been used to help other animals needing medical care at the Ozaukee Campus.

A 6-pound pup needs your help - Meet Poncho

donate-button-forponcho.jpgHe is the sweetest little fellow, but after a journey from another shelter that was unable to find him a home, Poncho still has a long road ahead of him. Poncho has a medical condition - luxating patellas - that causes his kneecaps to pop out of place. It's painful, so he walks with a distinct gait in order to avoid pain and discomfort. Left untreated, Poncho would develop arthritis and his knees would become lame and hurt him even more.

But we're here to help. We are making sure that Poncho gets the surgery necessary to repair this condition. It's expensive, but he is worth every penny.

The costs associated with Poncho’s veterinary treatment, surgery, hospital stay and adoption services will reach $1,200. Can you help by making a donation of $10, $25 or even $50 to help this 2-year-old Chihuahua?

Your contribution will go directly to Poncho's medical care, and to the care of other animals at the Ozaukee Campus recovering from injuries, illness, and abuse. The only way we are able to help homeless dogs like Poncho is because of donations from people like you.

You can also sponsor Poncho in honor of a loved one and send a personalized Ecard with his photo. (These make GREAT gifts!) Thank you so much for your support!

p.s. We are not taking any adoption holds for Poncho - it will be several weeks of recuperation before he is ready for adoption, too.
