Broken leg, but hopeful heart.

This little doggie needed help! As the economy worsened, WHS officials saw more cases of surrenders due to financial woes. Rose was surrendered to the shelter because her family couldn’t afford proper veterinary care.

Rose, a 3-month-old Miniature Pinscher, had a badly broken leg that needed immediate expert medical attention. Rose joined several other pups in the WHS hospital with leg fractures in various states of healing.  It cost the shelter thousands of dollars to treat these animals.

WHS provides extensive medical services and some of the dogs in the care of veterinary staff needed specialized surgery. Rose only needed a splint, pain medication, strict cage rest and the love of staff and volunteers to complete her recovery. Because WHS receives no government funding, the financial support of generous donors is vital to the care of these special animals.

We are happy to report that Rose recovered fully and was adopted by a wonderful Milwaukee couple!
