4.21.10 Max has passed his final veterinary exam and will be moving into adoption today! Look for him on our web page of available dogs.

We are so appreciative of everyone who donated to help little Max. Thanks to your generosity, we have raised the funds necessary to cover his medical costs.

nullHe is doing great and has graduated from his plastic cone, which he is thrilled about. He made a special trip outside today and loved practicing his 3-legged prance in the soft green grass. Max will be going up for adoption soon.

On behalf of Max, thank you for your kindness and generosity!

ps. You can still donate below on behalf of Max - your funds will be used to help other animals in our Intensive Care Unit.

Max Needs Some Spring Cheer

max dogWhen our veterinarians approach this tiny puppy in the Intensive Care Unit of WHS, they are welcomed by the thump-thump-thump of Max’s tail.  Despite his painful fall from a porch and missing front leg, Max enthusiastically greets his visitors.

He wasn’t always so cheerful.  Max arrived at WHS in bad shape. The three-month-old Terrier mix so severely fractured his leg that our only option was to amputate. The surgery, however, saved his life. After he is fully recovered, Max will move into our regular adoption program and he'll begin a happier journey with a new family.

We were only able to help because of donations from people like you. We do not receive government funding and depend on the community’s support to fund all of our lifesaving initiatives, including the care provided to Max.  The cost of his surgery and medical care is expected to reach $1,500.

Will you give $10, $25 or even $50 to help us care for Max? Donate now. You can also sponsor Max in honor of someone and send a personalized ecard with his photo.
