Shine a Light and Bring Hope to Animals

He was alone, abused, and helpless. A little grey and black tabby was living outside, which wasn’t ideal. But his circumstances went from bad to worse when a couple of kids forced his body to the ground and cut off his whiskers. Then they tried to drown the poor boy.

A sweet Miniature Schnauzer pup arrived at WHS with a lame rear leg, hobbling unsteadily as if her leg wasn’t there at all. When our veterinarian did x-rays, she found that Ruffles had broken her leg not long before arriving at WHS. It’s scary to think about the force that was needed to break the sweet girl’s leg. She had to have been terrified and in great pain.

This is what we do for thousands of animals who come through our doors every year. We take care of their needs and provide them with a fresh start. With every animal whose life is saved, we have hope for a brighter, more humane future.

Hope is an essential part of what we do. Hope propels us forward as we work to create a safer, more humane community for all of us, furry and human alike. We couldn’t do it without you.

Please help us kick off the season of giving with a gift to Hope's Lights. Even a single light will make a real difference in the life of an animal. Together, we can shine hope in dark places and make life better for all of us. You can purchase a light in honor or memory of a beloved companion animal, person, or even a wild animal.

There are several ways you can contribute to Hope's Lights:

  • Purchase a light in honor or memory of a special animal or person and send an ecard.
You can also print a card!
  • Print a form and mail it in with your contribution. We will send cards through the mail on your behalf.
  • Make a donation to the Hope's Lights campaign (no card will be sent).

p.s. We will illuminate the shelter and grounds at the Wisconsin Humane Societies with holiday lights in honor and in memory of important people and animals in our lives. We hope you will join in our celebration at the Milwaukee Campus on Sunday, December 4 from 5:30 - 7:00 and make our shelter shine as a beacon of hope and joy! On Saturday, December 3, join us at the new Ozaukee Campus at 630 West Dekora Woods Blvd. in Saukville at 5:30 p.m. and celebrate the lighting of the grounds at the new shelter.
