Adopted!

UPDATE 8/1/13: Just a few hours after becoming available for adoption, Bella found a wonderful match in her new loving guardian, Jennifer. Aren't they so cute together?!?

UPDATE 8/1/13: The veterinary staff cleared Bella this morning for adoption, so she'll be available today! Keep an eye on the website for her photo. Thank you to everyone who helped support this sweet pup!

UPDATE 7/26/13: Thank you so much for the outpouring of support for Bella! She is doing so well and gets around great on her three legs. Thanks to all of you, we've raised the funds to pay for her medical expenses. If her recovery stays so strong, we expect her to go into adoption sometime next week.

Help Bring Hope to Sweet Bella

BELLA-BUTTON.jpgYou’d never know by looking at her wagging tail and bright eyes that tiny Bella just had surgery.

The sweet 3-month-old Dachshund/Chihuahua pup severely fractured her leg when she was accidentally dropped in her home by a young child.  Her family was unable to afford the care she needed, so they brought her to the Wisconsin Humane Society.

Bella’s break was bad and our veterinarians knew her best chance was to have her leg amputated.  She is currently recovering from her amputation surgery at WHS’s Milwaukee Campus where our veterinarian staff report that she is a model patient. A little wiggly, but sweet as honey!

The cost of Bella’s surgery and medical care is expected to reach about $2,500 and we are asking for help with her special medical expenses.

Can you help Bella? Your contribution of $10, $25 or even $50 will go directly to the care of sweet Bella; any additional funds will be used to help treat special needs animals recovering from medical illnesses at WHS. You can also sponsor Bella in honor of a loved one and send a personalized ecard with her photo to let them know.

The Wisconsin Humane Society receives no government funding and relies entirely on the support of the community to annually care for 20,000 animals, like Bella. Thank you for considering helping this little girl on her road to recovery! We will keep you updated on her progress.

p.s. No adoption holds are being taken for Bella - when she's ready, she'll graduate into our regular adoption program!
