Beautiful Bella! How could you say no to this adorable little girl? Her pleading eyes were honest and true. Bella desperately needed help. Bella, an Italian Greyhound, was thrilled to experience her very first Christmas morning with her family. All those presents to open and toys to play with! In the commotion of opening presents, Bella broke her right front leg. With all the chaotic activity, Bella’s guardians missed the exact cause, but as she limped out of the room crying they knew the puppy had been seriously hurt. Unfortunately, her guardians felt they could no longer care for Bella and surrendered her to the Wisconsin Humane Society where they knew she would receive the care she needed. Bella was quickly given medicine to relieve her pain and swelling. After x-rays were taken, her fractured leg was splinted. Despite the pain of her leg fracture, the polite girl was sweet to the veterinarians and welcomed their attention. Due to their delicate bone structure, Italian Greyhound puppies are especially vulnerable to leg fractures and must be handled carefully as they develop into adults. At 8 months of age, Bella was not fully grown. Thanks to the generosity of more than 50 donors, we raised the funds needed for Bella's care. Bella received specialized surgery to repair her fractured leg which included a metal plate to secure her fragile bones. She had a long recovery ahead of her, but thanks to dedicated staff, volunteers and compassionate donors, she received everything she needed. Bella was adopted by a loving woman, dedicated to her ongoing care and special needs. She will receive all the love and attention she needs in her new home. |
