"High-five" is just one of the tricks that I showed to Allie.

Update 2.26.14: Lady went through her surgery like a champ! She is now recovering in a foster home, where she will be doted upon for 6-8 weeks as she heals. Thank you for all your support of this special girl.

Update 1.23.14: Wow! We are so thrilled to announce that we have met our fundraising goal for Lady's surgery. We can't thank you all enough for the outpouring of support. Our community is the best!

1.22.14
Lady is such a darling. She's so sweet so that we featured her on Facebook, sent her for a FOX6 Pet-of-the-Day appearance, and created a YouTube video of her. After a few weeks in adoption, though, Lady began to limp. It was a new sign that there was something seriously wrong with Lady.

At only 2 years old, Lady has a knee problem in both legs: luxating patellas, which is a condition where the kneecaps pop out of place. We consulted with the Wisconsin Veterinary Referral Center (WVRC) in Waukesha, and they determined that she needs corrective surgery in both rear legs. Without surgery, her knees will deteriorate rapidly and cause her a lifetime of pain. The surgery will ensure a happier, healthier future for Lady.

She has so many fans that the amazing folks at WVRC have offered to donate a large portion of her surgical costs. We are so grateful for their help, and know that with your support, we can raise $2,700 to help cover the rest.

Will you give $10, $25 or even $50 to help us care for Lady? Donate now. You can also sponsor Lady in honor of someone and send a personalized ecard with her photo.

We couldn't save dogs like Lady without your support, and we're so thankful for any amount that you can contribute to her surgery - it all truly makes a huge difference.

p.s. Due to the nature of the surgery and recovery time, we are looking for an adoptive family NOW. The new family will go home with a certificate for the surgery at WVRC. We know that Lady's recovery will go best in a home environment. If you are interested in adopting, check out Lady's profile
