When Thor arrived at the Ozaukee Humane Society just a few days ago, he was in great distress. The stray cat had been picked up on Bonniwell Road in Mequon, just wandering around.  He probably knew it was time to get help, though; he eagerly allowed a kind woman to scoop him up and bring him to safety at OHS.

It is very obvious that Thor experienced a very tough winter.  His poor ears are swollen and badly damaged from being frostbitten. He hasn’t been eating a very healthy diet and his boney ribs are a depressing sign that he likely struggled desperately to find food all winter long.

During the initial veterinary exam, it was discovered that Thor’s ears are literally falling apart.  The tips are already gone and more dead tissue needs to fall off on its own with the close surveillance of expert staff.  Despite his grim appearance, Thor is an affectionate kitty with the heart and purr of a lion!

ThorVeterinarian Dr. Randy Zeman has decided to keep Thor under close observation as he recovers. There is still a high risk of infection starting in Thor’s ears and it’s also critical that he gain some weight to ensure a healthy future.

Thor is just one of hundreds of felines that will be diagnosed and treated for illnesses this year at OHS. Without the medical care and safe housing OHS offers, many of these cats would never make it.

We need your assistance in raising funds to treat Thor. His medication and care is expensive and we hope you will help us reach our goal of $400.  A gift $10, $25 or even $50 will make such a difference. You can also sponsor Thor in honor of a loved one. You’ll have the opportunity to send them a personalized eCard to let them know. Thank you in advance for your generosity.

Wonderful News! We've raised the funds needed for Thor's care!
