Their needs aren’t so different from ours. First and foremost, animals want to be loved. Don’t you?

Teddy2Teddy barely had his blue, newborn eyes open when he was plucked from his mother’s warmth and unscrupulously given as a gift to a young boy. Not yet ready to eat puppy food, the infant screamed with hunger. Before long, the family brought Teddy to the Wisconsin Humane Society.

At a little more than half a pound, Teddy fit in the palm of a hand. Under his fluffy coat, he was unbearably thin. Our first priority was to start the little one on milk replacement and nutritional supplements.

Valentine’s Day is about love.  At WHS, we think about love every day. It is hard to see the harsh circumstances that animals face day after day. Yet each of their innocent faces reminds us of the importance of what we do. We save lives.

Of course, we don’t do it alone. You are an essential part of our success. Your generous gifts make our work possible for us to provide care for animals like Teddy.

In the capable hands of our expert veterinary staff, Teddy is sure to thrive.  When he is ready, we will find him a fantastic new home.

Will you sponsor Teddy as he recovers? Your contribution of $10, $25 or even $50 will make a real difference. You can also sponsor our favorite valentine in honor of a loved one and send a personalized ecard with Teddy's photo to let them know. Valentine's Day is just around the corner, so don't forget the animal lovers in your life who would really enjoy a unique gift that also helps a little puppy get the care he deserves.

P.s. We are hoping that Teddy will be available for adoption this week. Adoptions are all first-come, first-served, so keep the available dogs page bookmarked!
