Saving lives, one dog at a time.

When we first met Homer at Puppy Haven, we were dismayed to see two very cloudy eyes on this sad 8-year-old Pug’s face. Not only did he have eye injuries, Homer was incredibly scared. He cringed when staff members reached out to him and he cowered in fear at the sound of an approaching person.
Our staff patiently coaxed Homer out of hiding and into the care of the Wisconsin Humane Society. Our veterinarians examined his eyes and determined that Homer's right eye had to be removed; unfortunately, Homer is blind in his left eye, too.
Homer will need a long time to heal from his eye surgery and even longer to trust that our intentions are good. Many staff members visit this special guy every day in the infirmary and we always bring him treats. He's starting to associate people with good things. Although Homer may never be as self confident and carefree as other dogs, we are working hard to give him and so many like him, the opportunity to find joy in companionship with new families.
If you have already made a gift to help the dogs from Puppy Haven, we are so grateful. It is making a real difference. There are so many of these pups who need help. And they are in addition to the thousands of animals who have been surrendered to us this summer. We receive no tax dollars; all of our funding comes from kind folks just like you, one gift at a time.
Would you like to help dogs like Homer with a donation? Your contribution of $25, $50 or even $100 will go directly to the care of the 1,200 dogs being received by the Wisconsin Humane Society from Puppy Haven Kennels. Sponsor a Puppy Haven dog in honor of a loved one and send a personalized ecard with a photo of one of the precious dogs who are being helped to let them know.
