A Second Chance for Luke
When Luke arrived at the Wisconsin Humane Society, the tiny Chihuahua was trembling in a blanket. The 3-month-old Chihuahua had been innocently playing when he accidentally fell off a windowsill. Even the short fall proved to be too big of a leap for such a petite fellow. Luke’s fragile leg had broken. His family couldn't care for him, so they brought the sweet puppy to us.
WHS veterinarians gave Luke a thorough examination, including taking x-rays of the fracture. The fracture was complex and Luke needed specialized surgery to insert pins into his leg. These pins stabilize his pencil-thin bones and help the puppy heal faster. Luke continues to recover in a home with a foster family who can attend to the emotional, social and physical needs of our very special boy.
The costs associated with Luke’s veterinary treatment, surgery, hospital stay and adoption services are likely to reach about $3,000. Like all the animals at WHS, Luke depends on donations from individuals like you to provide expert animal care and adoption services. You make all the difference in these animals’ lives.
Your contribution of $10, $25 or even $50 will go directly to the care of this affectionate puppy. You can also sponsor Luke in honor of a loved one and send a personalized ecard with his photo to let them know.
Great news! So far, we've raised $1,235 for Luke's care!
