Mardi Paws

Join the Wisconsin and Ozaukee Humane Societies as we celebrate Mardi Paws, June 9, 10 and 11! We know it's not when you might think we would celebrate Mardi Paws, but we want to stand out because we've got an important message to send. With summer quickly approaching, summer storms are brewing all over the United States. Thunder storms, tornadoes, hurricanes as well as wildfires sparked by drought all pose a potential threat to our safety. Hurricanes that pummeled the Gulf Coast in 2005 taught us to be more prepared for these potential disasters. We want to make sure every companion animal is considered when making these preparations. One effort being made to protect our companion animals after disaster strikes is the Pet Evacuation and Transportation Standards Act (PETS). This Act ensures that beloved animals will be included in emergency preparedness plans throughout the country. Click here to learn more and contact your representatives asking them to support this important piece of legislation. In just a few clicks, you can let your voice be heard.
We're taking our message on the road! Join us at Pride Fest Saturday or Sunday where we'll have information at our booth about PETS as well as a wide array of merchandise, all benefitting the animals! Crawdaddy's has joined us in celebrating Mardi Paws along with WHS and OHS! Stop in for dinner at Crawdaddy's, purchase beads to help our animals and participate in the coloring contest, or ask for information about the PETS Act, they'll have plenty available.
We’d like to thank Rebecca Silber of Rebecca Silber Designs and Beth Brown of Kiki’s Tiki Designs for their help with our wonderful Mardi Paw graphics! Start Date:
