Chirag Patel 4 Day Intensive November 8-11th 2019

Last day to register is Friday November 1st! We are thrilled to bring Chirag Patel back to Milwaukee for an amazing 4 (or 3) day intensive workshop. Chirag will take us on a journey covering invaluable topics and truly bring our training and relationships with our animals to a new level. All 4 days will be filled with live dog demonstrations and hands on opportunties on day 4.
Chirag Patel is the owner of Domesticated Manners in London, UK. From here he consults on the behavior management and training of domestic animals kept as pets, exotics, zoo and laboratory animals. His passion is the application of behavior change science and ethics to improve the life of animals living under human care, especially applying training principles to teach animals to be active participants in their own daily and veterinary care in a stress free manner.
As well as running Domesticated Manners, Chirag also works for Dogs Trust as as Assistant Head of Canine Training and Behavior, in addition to consulting for Guide Dogs for the Blind Association and the Kong Company.
Day 1- Empowering All Learners (limited to 4 demo dogs)
Empowering our animal learners, by placing an emphasis on choice and active participation in the development of new behaviors, existing husbandry practices, or behavior modification, opens new doors of communication and is sure to radically change the way we view our relationship with the animals in our lives. Chirag will demonstrate how he teaches the learner to engage in a signal that cues the trainer that the animal is ready for the training conversation ahead, as well as when the learner needs a break. These strategies help increase positive welfare, reduce aggressive behavior, and create learners that are motivated and actively part of the conversation.
Day 2- Understanding, Managing, & Modifying Problem Behavior In Practice (limited to 4 demo dogs with a problem behavior)
Working real dogs in real time! In this session Chirag will go beyond theory and demonstrate practical and scientific approaches to analyzing and resolving problem behavior. Throughout the day Chirag will work with several dogs exploring strategies for a variety of problem behaviors; including fearful, shutdown or reactive type behaviors.
Day 3- Details Matter! Nuanced Clinic with Chirag (limited to 6 working dogs)
This day is run as a clinic with auditors. Six dog and handler teams will rotate one at a time working through specific behavior challenges or goals. There will be discussion, application, and review for each dog/handler team session, rotating several times throughout the day. Behaviors that may be covered include:
Day 4- Empowering Learners In Practice (limited to 36 total participants, 12 working dogs)
This day is all about getting hands-on. Attendees will
be split into groups of 6 people and be given one dog to work with for each half of the day in short training sessions. Attendees are encouraged to explore the exercises and techniques covered over the last 3 days.

Refund/cancellation policy: A refund will be issued if requested on or before October 1st 2019. Refunds are issued in the full amount, less a $50.00 registration processing fee. No refunds will be issued after the specified date. All refunds must be requested in writing to nhart@wihumane.org There are no exceptions to this policy.
Travel: The nearest international airport is General Mitchell International Airport (MKE), located 40 minutes south of Redline Canine Training Center. Chicago O'Hare International Airport (ORD) is located approximately 2 hours south of Redline Training Center.

3-Day approved for 22.5 total in combination of 7.5 CPDT-KA OR KSA and 15 Behavior Consult 4- Day approved for 30 total up to 15 CPDT-KA OR KSA and up to 22.5 for Behavior Consult KPA, IAABC 3-day 27 CEUs, and 4- day 36 CEUs
