A Sheltered Sheltie

Who could resist this adorable face? Petey was a Shetland Sheepdog puppy, only 4 months old. He should have been jumping, running and frolicking at his young, inquisitive age, but he couldn’t because he had a fractured leg.

Petey came to WHS when his owners decided they couldn’t care for this little pup’s injuries. Unfortunately, Petey couldn’t tell us how he injured his leg, but we do know that his poor little leg was fractured and he was in pain.  When little Petey was surrendered to WHS, our expert veterinary staff immediately took x-rays to determine the extent of his injuries. Fortunately, WHS veterinarians were confident that with consistent medical treatment, a loving foster home and four to six weeks of recovery time, Petey would heal and become a healthy, active puppy again.

Treating Petey's injury was expensive. Medications, a continuing series of x-rays and frequent veterinary exams were required. Thankfully, because of many generous donations received, more than $1,000 was raised for his care.

After his recovery, Petey was adopted into a loving home.
