Miss Fluffy Stays on All Fours

miss fluffy castOne look at Miss Fluffy's photographs and your heart melts. We were hoping that a lot of hearts would melt because this little girl needed expensive surgery to save her leg.

Miss Fluffy came to the Wisconsin Humane Society with a bad cough and terrible limp. Every time someone approached the stray dog, she would sit and hold out her wobbly paw to shake. Even with a painfully broken front leg, Miss Fluffy wanted to please strangers by showing them how well she could shake hands.

Our veterinarians hoped that Miss Fluffy would recover with strict bed rest and a supportive splint.  After several weeks in the WHS infirmary, though, Miss Fluffy's bones were not properly fusing together. There were two solutions to consider: specialized surgery or amputation.

WHS veterinarians determined that specialized surgery would save Miss Fluffy's leg. The surgery, which needed to be performed by an orthopedic specialist, required a bone graft and insertion of a metal plate to secure the broken bones.

MISS FLUFFY TUMMY

Miss Fluffy was just over a year old, so we knew she would recover quickly. In November, Miss Fluffy underwent surgery and it was a success! After the surgery, she spent time healing in a caring, convalescent home.

This pint-sized fur ball is fortunate that she will be able to spend her many years ahead on all four legs. Despite her fancy name and stunning good looks, she's no primadonna. She certainly has a regal air about her, but Miss Fluffy is never pushy or demanding. In fact, this precious Pomeranian is quiet, patient and intensely affectionate.
