Wisconsin Legislative Alerts
Anti-Tethering Laws
Dogs are social animals and suffer mentally and physically when continuously tethered. Urge your legislators to introduce anti-tethering laws that protect dogs and public safety.

End Breed Discrimination
Many insurance companies deny homeowners liability insurance coverage to people with certain breeds of dogs.  Contact your legislators and let them know you support insurance for all responsible animal guardians, regardless of the breed of their companion.

Protect Wisconsin's Animals from Domestic Violence
Research shows a strong link between animal abuse and domestic violence. Urge your legislators to support Senate Bill 162, which would include companion animals in restraining orders, protecting both human victims of abuse and their furry friends.

National Legislative Alerts
Farm Animal Stewardship Purchasing Act
No federal law currently regulates the treatment of the 10 billion farm animals slaughtered annually in our country. This bill would require producers selling animal products to meet basic animal welfare standards for products sold to federal programs.

Tracking Animal Cruelty Crimes Act
This bill would develop a categorization for animal cruelty that would help animal cruelty crimes be easily tracked.  Let your Senators know that you would like to see animal cruelty treated as a serious crime.

Pet and Human Food Safety Act
Worried about the recent pet food recalls?  Ask your representatives to support this bill that would increase the FDA’s regulation of animals’ food.

Dog and Cat Fur Prohibition Act
Ask your legislator to support this bill that will require that all fur be labeled and ban the import of fur from raccoon dogs, a member of the canine family.  Currently, any fur valued at less than $150 does not have to be labeled.  Protect consumers and animals by making sure that shoppers can make informed decisions about the trim of their jackets.

Animal Welfare Accountability Improvement Act
This bill would ban the use of live animals for demonstrations of medical products for marketing purposes as well as strengthen enforcement of the Animal Welfare Act.

Pet Safety and Protection Act
Urge your legislators to support the Pet Safety and Protection Act, which will force research facilities to only obtain animals legally.

Downed Animal and Food Safety Protection Act
Animals who are too sick or injured to walk, referred to as "downers," are often forcibly moved to slaughter.  This practice is inhumane and dangerous to our food supply.  Ask your representative to support this bill that protects these animals.

American Horse Slaughter Prevention Act
Tell your legislators that you support this important bill that will end the export of horses to other countries to be inhumanely slaughtered.
